The role of hybrid UV ink in packaging printing

HybridInk is a new ink formed by mixing ordinary ink components with UV curing materials. It not only has many excellent properties of UV ink, but also solves the problem that the adhesion between traditional ink and coating oil is not good. Good question. When using mixed inks for on-line coating, only one or more UV curing lamps can be installed after the last printing unit of the printing press and before the UV coating unit.

We know that for packaging printed matter, manufacturers not only need it to have the function of packaging products, but also need to have the function of attracting consumers' attention and increasing the added value of products. Printing products are a good choice among them. UV Varnish is the first choice for glazing because of its high gloss, instant drying and good abrasion resistance. However, the chemical composition and chemical properties of UV varnish and common ink are quite different, and the two are not compatible, resulting in poor adhesion between ordinary ink and varnish. In addition, the initial high gloss of printed gloss finishes does not last long after printing, resulting in reduced gloss. Especially in the dark areas where the ink coverage area is large, the degree of gloss reduction is the largest, while the area where the coverage area is small or the ink is not printed is still very bright, resulting in uneven gloss of printed matters. After printing with mixed ink and then UV coating, the UV coating can be quickly printed on the mixed ink and cured to obtain a uniform high-gloss coating effect.

The advantages of mixed inks:

1. The hybrid UV ink does not need a lot of UV light when it is dry and fast, and has fast drying speed and high production efficiency. The glazing effect is uniform and the gloss is high.

2. Hybrid UV inks have better printability than ordinary UV inks. Compared with conventional inks, the printing quality such as dot gain, color registration, and printing contrast is almost the same as that of UV inks, and the operation efficiency is greatly improved.

3. The mixed UV ink does not crust, reducing the time it takes to shut down and clean the ink roller. Because the UV-curable material in the mixed ink does not dry before being irradiated by the UV lamp and is always flowing on the printing press, it does not cause crusting on the ink roller like a normal ink to cause a printing failure.

4. Wide range of printing substrates. In addition to paper printing, mixed inks can also be used for non-absorbent substrates.

5. In addition to the mixed ink can be used for sheetfed printing presses, can also be used for narrow web presses.

6. The investment cost is low. The ordinary printing ink roller and blanket can be used during printing, and the special ink roller and blanket required by UV ink printing are not required. No special fountain solution is needed during printing.

7. Printed paper can be recycled, environmental protection and energy saving.

Disadvantages of mixed inks:

1. Wear resistance is poor compared to ordinary UV inks.

2. The price is more expensive than ordinary offset ink.

3. There are still gaps in the printing of high-gloss products with multicolor mixed inks.
